Virat Kohli surpasses Brian Lara scores another double century – Ind vs SL

Six double centuries as a captain is the new record that Virat Kohli has set, and not only that it was his third century in three consecutive matches and back to back double centuries in consecutive innings. This was a Virat Kohli masterclass, from the very beginning he was aggressive and punished the mediocre Sri Lankan bowling lineup.

Earlier Kohli tied with Brain Lara for most double centuries for a captain and that was five. But with this double century, Kohli surpassed the legend and not only that he is now tied with the likes of Sachin and Sehwag for the most number of double centuries by an Indian.

Kohli started day 2 with a score of 156 and was quick to get to his double century. Day 2 was quite dramatic, Sri Lankan fielders were fielding with their masks on, their bowlers were finding it difficult to bowl under Delhi smog and were leaving the field one by one, at one point Sri Lanka team was down to 10 men fielding team, before Kohli decided to declare the innings.

Apart from Virat Kohli, Vijay was the other Indian batsman who scored a century and helped India finish on a 500+ mammoth first inning total. In response, Sri Lanka lost their first wicket on the very first ball and ended the day on 131/3.

The match is pretty much in India’s hand and it seems like this one is also going to end as the previous one.
