Voice and video calling features may soon arrive on Instagram

Latest reports from Tech crunch reveals that Instagram might be coming up with new calling and video calling features. TechCrunch reports says that there were hidden codes and icons for "Call" and "Video Call" in the platform's and its standalone Direct messaging app's Android APKs.

If this information is true then Instagram will help you in getting in contact with your friends in better ways. But still, Instagram has refused to comment on Tech crunch’s findings. And this update might become a threat to Snapchat as Instagram stories already have more users than Snapchat.

And if this update gets live, Snapchat users might divert to Instagram and one of the factors would be the update Snapchat rolled out with, which got outrageous comments. so if Instagram can make the calling option straightforward, it just adds another reason for users to stay within the Instagram app.

Now it’s a war amongst two biggest social media channels. But these updates of Instagram might win over Snapchat as Instagram already has all the features contained in Snapchat. Snapchat uses AR lenses which scans your face and overlays your face with filters like dogs ear or flower crown. But Instagram already uses its own lenses and it has own filters. And most probably Instagram will be using these lenses for its video calling.
