Coconut oil is useful in skin moisturizer, hair conditioner, coffee creamer, butter substitute, and is delicious on toast but it is not a magical health food, a group of doctors said.
Coconut is 82 percent saturated fat and studies show that it raises bad cholesterol just as much as butter or beef fat or palm oil. These words were said by AHA (American Health Association).
Frank Sacks, lead author of the report and a heart disease specialist at Harvard School of Public Health said,” I just don’t know” who is pushing the idea that coconut oil is healthy”.
Scientists kept various evidence research papers published since 1950.
They found strong evidence that saturated fat is the cause of the rise in bad cholesterol. Known as low-density lipoprotein, or LDL, it’s the main cause of atherosclerosis, which is the hardening and clogging of arteries that leads to heart attacks, strokes, and other cardiovascular diseases.
Scientists mentioned that replacing coconut oil with healthier oils like canola, soybean, peanut, safflower, and sunflower oils can decrease the risk of heart diseases.
But even if stop using coconut oil will not instantly lower your risk of heart attack. A 2015 study found that some people who cut saturated fat out of their diet fill the void with sugar, white flour, and junk foods.
AHA recommends people to replace saturated fats with unsaturated oil, vegetables, beans or whole wheat bread.
Even deep fry food lowers the risk. Frank Sacks said,” There’s nothing wrong with deep frying, as long as you deep fry in a nice unsaturated vegetable oil”.
