Ryzen 7 series is the best and includes 8 core and 16 threads. The initial Ryzen 7 lineup consists of the $500 Ryzen 7 1800X, the $400 Ryzen 7 1700X, and the $330 Ryzen 7 1700 which undercuts the similar 8 core Intel CPU cost by whooping $500.
Ryzen 5 series is comparably cheaper than Ryzen 7 and also consists of 6 core CPUs. The pricing of this series is yet to be announced but expect these to compete with Intel’s i5 processors.

Is AMD Ryzen that good?
On comparing Ryzen 1800x and 1700x with Intel’s latest and greatest chips, AMD’s chips went head to head and sometimes even did better than their rivals. AMD’s $500 Ryzen 1800x even bested Intel’s $1,050 Core i7-6900K in some factors, that is quite amazing as with that kind of price tag AMD surely provides a power packed CPU without burning a hole in your pockets.
Even if you want to do intensive gaming on Ryzen, Ryzen does great but in that case you should be using some high end graphics card. Even with modest GPUs gaming isn’t that bad either but it definitely lags behind Intel processors.

AMD says gaming will definitely get better on Ryzen chips as more and more game developers optimize their titles for Ryzen.

So should you buy it? Well if you are building a new PC and need a high performance CPU similar to Intel i7 but at a much lower price than surely you should go for these AMD products. But that said you should check the compatibility for these chips with other parts of your system, as these chips work on new architecture so old motherboard systems won’t work with these chips.
