Microsoft Announces to kill off Support for Windows 10 Mobile this Year

Tech giant Microsoft has announced to its users that anyone who still uses Windows 10 Mobile OS should switch over to a supported OS like Android or iOS as by of December 10th of this year the company is going to end its support for Windows 10 Mobile, which means there will be no more security updates or system updates after December 10th, 2019.

Microsoft said “With Windows 10 Mobile OS end of support, we recommend that customers move to a supported Android or iOS device. Microsoft’s mission statement to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more, compels us to support our mobile apps on those platforms and devices.”

The news doesn’t come as a surprise for many as in 2017, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President, Joe Belfiore confirmed that the company had no plans to develop new features for the Windows in mobile in the near future.

Terry Myerson, the former head of Windows Phone, talked a bit about its failure in last March of the previous year saying, “there are a lot of reasons for the failure of Windows 10 OS in mobiles. The main reason being the lack of apps, mainly the popular ones, that were available on both Android and iOS platform.”

Moreover, the technical support will also come to an end on December 10th, 2019. Bundled cloud services and syncing features will continue to work after December 10th till March 10th,2020 but the data security will go down as the time goes on and only a handful of online tools could work for as long as a year after the support is pulled back, but the Microsoft isn’t making any promises.
