Samsung Galaxy Fold brings out a revolutionary change at $2,000
Samsung brought out its flagship devices at the Unpacked Event today and as expected from the overflowing leaks on the internet, we had a look at the new Infinity O display. Samsung released the Galaxy S10, S10+ and S10e, and all the devices really were outstanding and stood out from the rest of the smartphone industry. But one more device launched at the event really took the spotlight at it was Samsung Galaxy Fold.
Samsung Galaxy Fold was being teased by Samsung for a long time now and here it is, ready to inspire and innovate the mobile industry. This is the smartphone that really defines the industry for the next decade as being quoted by many analysts.
Samsung Galaxy Fold will be releasing the smartphone on 26th of April at a whopping price point of $1,980 through AT&T and T-Mobile and they will be available with the free pair of Samsung's new wireless earbuds.
Galaxy Fold is a standard 4.6-inch phone screen on the front and has everything normal with it, but when you open it up is when the real magic appears. That is when a single large 7.3-inch screen is revealed with no visible lines in between. It has a tablet-sized screen and still, it can be fit into a pocket when folded. It has QXGA+ resolution display (4.2:3) and on folding it we get a 12:9 display.
It has massive storage with 512 GB of Universal Flash Storage 3.0 along with Qualcomm 7nm octa-core processor and 12 GB of RAM and it makes it one of the most powerful smartphones in the market.
The fold also allows the device to have two batteries on both the sides of the fold, but they are combined by the operating system and adds up for 4,380 mAh. Talking about the camera the device offers 6 cameras with 3 on the back, two on the inside and one on the front. On the back, it has a 16 MP ultra-wide camera, along with 12 MP wide-angle and a 12 MP telephoto camera. On the front, it has a 10MP selfie camera, and the inside it has two cameras that are 10 MP selfie camera and 8 MP depth camera.
Samsung Fold's large display also allows three-way multitasking which will allow you to use three apps simultaneously in one large screen. You can use various apps like WhatsApp, Microsoft Office, YouTube and Google search. Also, Samsung is trying to work with Google to make Android 9 to be fully compatible with this display.
Something that is very noticeable in the Galaxy Fold is the large bezels in the single-handed mode, but we will have to see how that affects the overall usability of the device.
Galaxy Fold took a revolutionary step and came out with the very first generation of its foldable device that is yet to be perfected but still will pave the way for the future of the smartphone industry. Samsung is not the only company to be working on foldable devices, Xiaomi has teased its own prototype, Huawei is reportedly working on releasing its foldable smartphone but Samsung is the first to roll out this device and make it widely available. We can expect to see a lot of smartphone manufacturers to bring out their foldable smartphones in the coming future.
