According to a report from The Ken (a news website), WhatsApp is looking forward to introduce Peer to Peer payments service in India integrated with the WhatsApp. WhatsApp will launch this app based on UPI (Universal Payment Interface) system, this will allow users to send money in the app.
This has been in rumors for a while as Brian Acton the app’s co-founder had stated that company is looking into a system to integrate peer to peer payments system. Well Facebook, which owns WhatsApp has already rolled out peer-to-peer payments to its Messenger App.
But WhatsApp, for now has not confirmed anything. So it may not be soon that WhatsApp will be launching this payment mode.
This payment service will be used not only as a P2P system but can be used to make payments between consumers and businesses. WhatsApp would want businesses on their platform and if they are able to integrate this payment service in the app, it will open a whole new option for money transfer and monetization.
