The group stages of Confederations Cup have wrapped up now, and now we have four teams heading over to final stages. Top two teams of each group will play in the semi-finals and the teams are Portugal and Mexico from Group A and Germany and Chile from Group B.
Confederations Cup is held a year before the World Cup is hosted in the World Cup hosting country to help that country in preparation for the World Cup. Winning teams from each confederation, world cup winners, and host nation participate in this tournament.
This 8 team event was held in Russia this time as World Cup 2018 is also going to be held here. The teams that participated in the tournament were Portugal, Mexico, Cameroon, Russia, and New Zealand (Group A) and Australia, Germany, Chile, Cameroon (Group B).
With group stages being over we are now ready for the finals. First of all, we have two semifinal matches which are scheduled on June 28 and June 29, first one is Portugal vs Chile and other is Germany vs Mexico, which means host country is out of the race.
Teams losing Semi-final matches will then compete for the 3rd/4th place and the match will be contested on July 2.
Final will be played between the winning teams of semi-final matches and is also scheduled on July 2.
