LG Electronics Canada (LG) announced that it has teamed up with Google to be one of the first consumer electronics company to launch Android Pay in Canada.
Android Pay is a simple and secure way to pay on mobile devices such as the LG G6, LG’s newest flagship smartphone which comes also comes with Google Assistant built in. Android Pay is available at shops across Canada, wherever contactless payments are accepted.
Android Pay is a secure, mobile purchasing system that works with NFC-enabled Nexus 5s, LG V20s and all G-series devices beginning with the LG G2. The devices must be running KitKat (4.4) or higher.
“We’re proud to be helping our customers tap into exciting new ways to pay,” says Shelly Walia, Brand Manager, Mobile Communications at LG Electronics Canada. “Android Pay adds value to our LG G6 and our previous generation flagship devices in the G and V series by providing another way to use your credit and debit cards to pay for purchases right from the G6.”
Android Pay doesn’t share your actual credit or debit card number with the merchant when you pay in stores, and uses a virtual account number to represent your card instead. Your device can notify you of your transactions with Android Pay. And if your phone is ever lost or stolen, you can simply use Google’s Find My Device feature to instantly lock your device from anywhere, secure it with a new password, or even wipe it clean of your personal information.
