Game of Thrones Season 7 sets new ratings records, most viewed among all seasons

Game of Thrones is HBO’s most viewed show, and amid all the controversies surrounding it, the show continues to have an ever increasing popularity. It is now clear that probably no force can stop the growth of the show.

Season 7 of the show brought up cheers for HBO once again as it shattered the previous records set by Season 6. According to HBO this season of Game of Thrones scored 34% more viewers than Season 6, according to HBO the number was 31 million viewers per episode.

Above numbers does not include the viewers of the final episode and we can expect this number to soar much high as a total of 16.5 million viewers caught up with the episode Sunday night.

As fans get their hands on DVDs or watch the episodes on HBO Go accounts, the number will continue to rise. This will lead to a sudden increase to the viewership average, likely to be somewhere about 33-34 million range.

Amid all the online leaks or hacks, it is clear Game of Thrones will persist to be one of the most watched shows and even overabundance of Peak TV can’t stop its growth. HBO’s show has remained its most watched series since its Season 4 when it averaged 18.4 million viewers per episode, which was more than the previous record holder – The Sopranos.

One thing to notice is that it is the penultimate season and series’ last will certainly get even more viewership. And when you look at it that way, it doesn’t matter who gets the throne, because the ultimate winner is going to be HBO itself.
