Dhoni becomes first cricketer in ODI history to get 100 stumpings

Dhoni yet again sets a new milestone in the ODI cricket as he became the only ODI player to affect 100 stumpings. In the fifth ODI against Sri Lanka Dhoni became the first wicketkeeper to have 100 stumpings in the ODI history.

Dhoni earlier had the chance to break this record in the last ODI which was his 300th ODI, but he didn’t get any chance to showcase his stumping skills. Even in this ODI it seemed like he would not be able to break the record, but in the 45th over, Dhoni affected a master class stumping of Dananjaya off the bowling of Chahal. And with this dismissal, Dhoni set a new world record.

He was earlier tied with Sri Lanka’s Kumara Sangakkara with 99 stumpings, but where Sangakkara took 404 ODIs to affect 99 stumpings, Dhoni was able to break the record in 301 ODIs.

This series has provided a revival for Dhoni as he been in an amazing form both with the bat and ball. He earlier stood unbeaten in the last three ODIs as he broke another record in the previous ODI which was of most unbeaten innings.

He had three unbeaten totals of 40+ with one of them being a half century.

In the fifth ODI Sri Lanka has been restricted to 238 for 10, thanks to five wicket haul by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and now India looks to seal the series with a whitewash.
