Blackberry today released the Evolve and Evolve X phones in the Indian market. Interestingly, India is the first and only market for the new Blackberry phones as of now.
To recall, the company recently launched the Blackberry Key2 in the country, which had already been launched in global markets. But the Key2 falls under the premium segment, while the Evolve and Evolve X are priced slightly lower at Rs. 24,990 and 34,990 respectively.
The company confirmed the launch of the BlackBerry Evolve series through a ‘Secure your Date’ invite, reaffirming the company’s commitment to user security and privacy. BlackBerry will not be running a live stream for the India launch of BlackBerry Evolve and Evolve X.
Something unique that we may see in these two phones is they come with the Blackberry Power Centre app that relies on deep learning to learn and understand your usage and optimize battery settings accordingly. It also allows you to set RAM allocation for each app and create custom battery profiles.
BlackBerry Evolve X and Evolve look very similar but have different elements under the hood. BlackBerry Evolve X is powered by Qualcomm’ Snapdragon 660 processor, while Evolve runs on Snapdragon 450 SoC. Evolve X comes with 6GB of RAM, and Evolve offers a smaller 4GB. Both phones offer the same 64GB of onboard storage with an option to expand it further up to 256GB via a microSD card.
BlackBerry Evolve X and Evolve both packs a 4,000mAh battery along with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. In the photography department, Evolve X sports a dual-camera setup of 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel sensors. Evolve also has dual cameras which are a pair of 13-megapixel sensors. Up front, both phones sport a 16-megapixel camera with fixed focus and selfie flash.
Both come with optional cashback offers from different Indian carriers and banks. Right now, Optimus hasn’t confirmed availability anywhere except India.
