British-Pakistani pop singer Zayn, a former member of the now-defunct boy band One Direction, posted his cover version of the Bollywood chartbuster Allah Duhai Hai from the Race series of films on Monday. The kaleidoscopic black-and-white video, shared by Zayn on YouTube, Instagram and Twitter, took everybody by surprise and fans are flipping out as to how competent the video was. Malik also gave it a twist by adding Electronic Dance Music (EDM) beats to it.
This is not the first time that the singer has done a cover for a Hindi song. Although his roots originate from the Pakistani culture, he had also done covers of Hindi songs, ‘Allah Ke Bande’ and Kailash Kher’s ‘Teri Deewani’.
Malik’s version of ‘Allah Duhai’ has already received over million views. This shows that people are loving this version in spite of the intensive trolling he got during ‘Teri Deewani’. Also, his persistent love and passion for Bollywood music covers don’t stop him from making more and more.
Zayn is currently working on his second solo album, which has no scheduled release date. In February, he told Elle magazine that the new album will have “definitely a lot of Urdu. Some nice qawwali sounds. There might even be some bhangra vibes,” and that he has worked with AR Rahman on one song. He also said that he had recorded a song for a Bollywood film.
