Have you been wondering what smartphone you should buy if you have a mid-range budget? Well now you have a new consideration for that budget and that is a Google Pixel 4a. A basic android smartphone with certainly the specs you really need in a smartphone.
The price at which Google launched the smartphone is $349 which comes with a 128 GB internal storage, and in just black color. I mean that’s it, Google just gave you one choice either go with Google Pixel 4a or don’t rather than selecting from multiple options of the smartphone.
Currently there are 3 major smartphones with the similar budget : Apple iPhone SE (2020), OnePlus Nord and Google Pixel 4a. All these smartphones provide a different specifications and hardware in it.
Google Pixel 4a comes with a Snapdragon 730G chipset and Adreno 618 GPU. Apple iPhone SE (2020) comes with a Apple A13 Bionic chipset with a 4-core graphics Apple GPU. And the OnePlus Nord comes with a Snapdragon 765G chipset with Adreno 620 GPU.
Google Pixel 4a might not be the best in the processor but still does a pretty good job.
Google Pixel 4a has a 5.8 inch OLED screen (1080 x 2340 pixels) which is far better than an IPS LCD display of iPhone SE (2020) of 4.7 inches (750 x 1334 pixels). OnePlus Nord on the other hand has a 6.44 inches of display (1080 x 2400 pixels) which also has the capacity to do 90 Hz – which makes OnePlus surely the best in display.
Google has always been known for providing the best cameras in a smartphone and it is not that big of curiosity that Pixel 4a does have a very good camera indeed even in such a low budget smartphone. On the downside, Google just provided pixel 4a with just 1 camera at the back which is a 12.2 mp f/1.4 sensor. I mean if Google just have added an ultra-wide camera in it – that would have made the phone a “full smartphone” , but Google really thought of making it that basic. A single-camera is not a bad thing but it sometimes makes you feel that it does lack a feature I needed. But still, its main camera is far better than other smartphones especially its night mode which is just astonishing, and Google’s new feature which helps taking pictures of the cosmos and it really does an amazing job there too.
This time Google has also finally thought of removing the top bezels and replacing it with a punch-hole selfie camera. And believe me, it looks far better than Pixel 4 and absolutely from the weird notch of Pixel 3 XL. The front camera is an 8 mp f/2.0 sensor which also has great capabilities in it.
Camera no doubt is one of the best out there in market for this price.
It houses a 3140 mAH battery which lets you use your smartphone for a day easily.
By keeping it simple does Google also meant by cutting a few technologies from it. Google has put its fingerprint sensor at the back of the smartphone (just like old times!!) rather than transferring it to the front in-screen fingerprint sensor. But various people still like the fingerprint sensor at the back, so I am just gonna leave it here.
If you are really thinking of buying a smartphone at a budget of around $350 you should go for it or you surely has other options to consider -Nord and SE 2020.
