Coachella festival has been canceled for the third time due to the coronavirus pandemic. Health officials have ordered that the festival that was was scheduled to be held in April this year be canceled.
The festival is known to draw hundreds of thousands of fans to the California desert which could become a hotspot for COVID cases. Riverside County Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser said in an order that the scheduled festivals will be canceled.
This is the third time Coachella has been canceled, it was initially postponed from April 2020 to October 2020. With the coronavirus cases still growing the event was finally rescheduled for April 2021.
The order to cancel the event is to reduce the likelihood of exposure to COVID-19, the order states. It would make it infeasible to track the number of people at risk if any case of coronavirus is detected at this event.
As of now, no details have been provided if the festival is going to be rescheduled, but as per reports from Billboard, the event may be postponed till October 2021. But it also depends on the situation of the COVID-19, if the cases keep on multiplying and vaccine distribution faces a problem, then probably the event might be postponed again.
