Trump has been banned from Facebook and Instagram for at least two weeks, Mark Zuckerberg announces

Mark Zuckerberg announced in a post that Donald Trump will be blocked from using Instagram and Facebook for at least two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.

The company had earlier blocked his accounts temporarily on Wednesday following his remarks that urged his supporters to incite violence. But now Zuckerberg has clarified that his account has been banned indefinitely.

The event of rioters entering the US Capitol and creating chaos has shocked the US and the rest of the world. It is reported 5 people have died in the clash between the US Capitol Police and the rioters.

Trump posted a video message in which he praised the violent group of his supporters who broke the US Capitol building. This led Instagram and Facebook to remove his video from their platform. Many other platforms took swift action in blocking his account. Twitter blocked President Trump’s account, even Shopify pulled down Trump’s campaign stores.

Meanwhile, Twitter on Thursday revealed that Trump has complied with its requirement to delete three offending tweets before reinstating access to his locked account on that platform – meaning Trump will regain access to his account 12 hours from the time of deletion, or later on Thursday.
