Daft Punk Split Up, iconic duo retires after 28 years

Daft Punk, one of the most popular dance music duo has announced their split today. They released an 8-minute video titled ‘Epilogue’, which showed one of the members being blown away and then a cutaway read 1993-2021.

This news was also confirmed by their publicist to various news agencies. The duo had gained legendary status in the music industry and have produced one of the biggest hits with stars like Pharrell Williams, Kanye West, and The Weeknd.

Daft Punk was formed in 1993 in Paris by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, who only started making public appearances in their iconic robot helmets.

They released their debut album ‘Homework’ in 1997, which paved the way for their success. It included classic singles like “Around the World” and “Da Funk”.

This was followed by singles like “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” with Kanye West which cemented them as global superstars. They also gave music for the Tron Legacy movie.

In 2013 they released their album “Random Access Memories” with lead single ‘Get Lucky’ featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers, which sold millions of copies worldwide and won them two Grammys for the track and two more for the album.

They also went on to collaborate with The Weeknd which gave them their first Billboard singles chart-topper for “Starboy”.

Daft Punk was always an influential electronic arts duo, and they gave it everything, from their music, their performances, and also their iconic helmets.
