Apple’s iOS 14.5 brings new features, including mask friendly Face-ID

Apple has started rolling out its new iOS 14.5 which includes some interesting new features which include over 200 new emojis and a mask-friendly face recognition system.

The new software update also provides a new App Tracking Transparency feature, which will allow users to decide if they want to allow apps to track their activity across other apps and websites for advertising purposes.

Whenever apps will try to share user’s activity for advertising purposes users will get a new pop-up. This feature was heavily criticized by Facebook, claiming that it presents a “false tradeoff” between personalized ads and privacy.

Now with the new update, iPhone users will also be able to unlock their phones without removing their masks, as long as their Apple Watch is unlocked, iPhones will be unlocked once haptic feedback is received from the watches.

A total of 217 new emojis have been added, which include skin tone variations, and new emojis like flaming hearts and faces in clouds. Also with the new update, the company is bringing support for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on iPhone and iPad.

The new default Siri voice has also made way into the new update. Users will have the option to choose between a preferred voice during the setup.

The update also brings the ability for Apple Fitness Plus users to stream their workout on a TV using AirPlay 2. Further, the Apple Podcasts app is getting a new design and optional subscriptions. Apart from that, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S controllers are also now supported on the iPhone and iPad with the new update. Apple iPhone 12 series also get 5G connectivity in a dual-SIM mode in more countries with iOS 14.5.
