Today in its WWDC keynote, Apple announced that Android and Windows users can also join FaceTime calls. Apple is making FaceTime available on the web, so users can call in from Android and Windows devices.
The new feature makes FaceTime a new rival to Zoom as now you would also be able to share a link to a scheduled call so that others can also hop in on your call through that link at the right time.
FaceTime has been one of the most important features of iOS and now with the release of iOS 15 the company is going to release the web version of FaceTime too.
Apple also announced a couple of new FaceTime features coming in iOS 15. Now FaceTime will support spatial audio, users can now blur their background with “portrait mode”, a new grid view option, and voice isolation to improve sound quality.
Apple is also introducing SharePlay into FaceTime, a feature that would allow a group of users to watch and listen to the same thing at once.
The feature lets you pull in songs, videos, or share your screen. Some major names are on board to support the feature, including Disney Plus, Hulu, HBO Max, and Twitch. Apple Music and Apple TV Plus support it too, of course.
