Strange radio signals from red dwarf star Ross 128 may have been sent by Aliens
A nearby star to earth is generating strange radio signals which has scientists puzzled. Earth’s neighboring red dwarf star Ross 128 which is under observation by a team of scientists from Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico discovered strange signals which they expect could be work of some form of extraterrestrial life.
Ross 128 is situated at 11 light years away from earth and the odd signals were first detected on May 12, 2017.
Abel Mendez, director of the Planetary Habitability Laboratory at the University of Puerto Rico, wrote in a statement that
The signals consisted of broadband quasi-periodic nonpolarized pulses with very strong dispersion-like features. We believe that the signals are not local radio frequency interferences (RFI) since they are unique to Ross 128, and observations of other stars immediately before and after did not show anything similar.
Well signals from aliens are not the probable explanation of these strange signals as considered by the scientists. They have various other explanations and most of them does not include any form of life.
Researchers say that these signals could be generated from emissions from the star itself or a nearby object, or a radio burst from an orbiting object. However from a statement from Mendez it is clear they have not ruled the possibility of aliens behind this.
The recurrent aliens hypothesis is at the bottom of many other better explanations.
The group is hoping to compile more data until next week to better guess the reason for this anomaly.
