Ind vs Sl 2nd T20, Rohit slams fastest ton for a massive win

Another convincing win for India over Sri Lanka in the second T20I in Indore on Friday to win the three-match series 2-0 with one game still left. Skipper Rohit Sharma led from the front, and smashed 118 off 43 balls as the hosts posted a mammoth 260 for 5 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first.

Opener KL Rahul also scored 89 runs off 49 balls with the spin duo Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav picking up 7 wickets between them with the visitors managing 172 for 9 in 20 overs.

This was Rohit’s second hundred in T20 Internationals and was the joint fastest as it came off just 35 balls.

Team India’s total of 260 was also the joint-second highest in T20 internationals just behind Australia’s 263. It was also India’s third highest win batting first. The team had registered its biggest win (93 runs) in terms of runs in the first T20I of this series at Cuttack under the new captain Rohit.

India’s wrist spinners once again did the damage for the hosts with leg-spinner Chahal taking 4-52 while chinaman Kuldeep picked up 3-52. Angelo Mathews was injured during bowling and could not bat. Kusal Perera top-scored for Sri Lanka with 77 off 37 balls for the touring side.

The 30-year-old Rohit smashed 10 sixes and 12 fours before he was eventually dismissed for 118 in 43 balls on a featherbed of a wicket at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, where Sri Lanka captain Thisara Perera won the toss and opted to field.

India would have been able to cross the highest T20 International total of 263-3, which was set by Australia against Sri Lanka in 2016, but India lost their four wickets in the last two overs of their innings.
