The Picture-in-Picture mode rolled out for the Android platform in early December. PiP is a multi-window mode mostly used for video playback. The feature allows the user watch a video in small window pinned to a corner of the screen while searching or browsing between apps on the main screen without opening any third party app or pages.
After rolling out the feature for Android and iOS platform WhatsApp has made the feature available for the desktop version as well. Earlier, in the desktop version, the messaging app released the PiP feature to watch only shared videos on WhatsApp. The recently released update will also allow web users to use the Picture-in-Picture mode in videos hosted by Youtube, Facebook, and Instagram.
The new feature comes to the user as a part of 0.3.2041 update along with new improvements and bug fixes which were not present on the earlier version. Though the WhatsApp Web site automatically recognizes the update but users, if want to or need, can force the update by clearing cache memory and re-launching the browser.
With such a feature now officially brought on both the platforms of the WhatsApp, the next big update is expected to bring the dark mode to the messaging app. The Facebook-owned company has been working on the dark mode for a long time and following the images that have been made public on Twitter by WABetaInfo, the feature is expected to roll out soon in a new update making the background of the messaging app black, as already available on Youtube and other apps.
