Toyota bets on its hydrogen fuel-cell technology with all new Toyota Mirai

With electric cars being dubbed as the future of the automative industry, Toyota is still betting on its hydrogen fuel-cell for its cars. Toyota introduced its all-new classier and luxurious Mirai Sedan just before the Tokyo Motor Show.

Hydrogen-powered cars are still an ecologically friendly alternative to petrol cars and take less time than EV cars to refuel, but there is not whole work on the infrastructure around this technology. But that hasn’t stopped Toyota as it still sees as Hydrogen being a major source of fuel for future cars.

Toyota introduced major improvements to its Mirai car introducing a redesigned version that provides significantly greater range, improved driving performance and elegant, sporty design that offers increased passenger room and comfort.

This car has a hydrogen fuel cell, in which compressed hydrogen is combined in a fuel cell with Oxygen taken from the atmosphere to produce electricity which is further stored in a battery. The byproduct will be water making it completely harmless for the atmosphere.

Toyota has been trying hard to break through the current automotive scenario and get in par with other electric vehicle manufacturers like Tesla.

But with the help of the latest Mirai, Toyota is hoping for an increase in sales as the car boasts a range of around 400 miles, thanks to its revamped Hydrogen fuel cell.

Toyota said the car was scheduled for launch starting in late 2020, initially in Japan, North America, and Europe. Full details of its performance will be released at a later date.
