You might have seen videos of people testing out OnePlus 8 Pro’s X-ray vision. The camera is able to watch through items of metal and also through clothing. Well it not really X-Ray, it is an accidental feature using infrared sensors of the camera.
The camera is able to see through thin black materials, light TV remotes, consoles, it might not work on High-end DSLRs. If you own a OnePlus 8 Pro and want to test out the feature, then open the camera app, select “Photochrom” color filter and point it to some black objects to see its magic.
It might not always work as the object needs to be dark not sturdy. It might also work on clothes but not always.
Even Unbox Therapy made a great video showing this filter in action trying it out on various objects, like Apple TV Box, Switch Console and Black Shirt.
Well it turns out this might not be a feature that OnePlus introduced intentionally. It is all because of the infrared sensors in the camera. Infrared light can pass through various materials that visible light cannot that is why it can see through some objects.
Not only OnePlus but any other camera using infrared sensors can be used for the similar purpose.
OnePlus has still not commented on this feature, as seeing through clothes is pretty troubling and maybe in the future OnePlus would like to restrict the feature through some software update.
