Wakanda set TV series in the works for Disney+

Disney+ is set to develop a TV series based on Black Panther’s kingdom Wakanda. This is part of a five-year deal with filmmaker Ryan Coogler’s Proximity Media Company. Ryan Coogler also wrote and directed Black Panther which was a box-office hit grossing $1.3 billion.

For now, no release date has been announced for the series. Coogler is for now working on the Black Panther sequel which is scheduled to arrive in theaters in July 2022.

Ryan Coogler is also known for movies ‘Fruitvale Station‘ and ‘Creed‘, both of them were very well received.

The series will focus on the futuristic kingdom and around the lives of the prominent characters. The original Black Panther movie also was the first Marvel movie to be nominated for Oscars and starred late Chadwick Boseman as the king T’Chala/Black Panther.
