Aston Martin honors DBR1 legacy with limited-edition V12 Speedster

Aston Martin is paying tribute to its iconic DBR1, the winner of 1959 24 hours Le Mans. The company is going to launch a limited edition V12 Speedster paying homage to the company’s most successful racing car.

The limited-edition V12 Speedster will be painted in the iconic green color which was also the color of DBR1. The car will have a number of features inspired by the DBR1, including a combination of Viridian Green technical textile and a mix of Conker saddle leather and Caithness leather, high-gloss carbon fiber trims in the cabin, as well as satin silver brushed aluminum switchgear.

V12 generates an impressive 690 horsepower largely due to its 5.2 liter twin-turbo V12 engines, generating 555 pound-feet of torque at the same time. Its 0-60mph time clocks in at 3.4 seconds while its top speed can reach 198 mph.

An eight-speed automatic gearbox sends this power to the rear wheels which come equipped with a limited-slip differential as well for better traction.

Aston Martin is only making 88 of these cars and will start the deliveries by the middle of this year. For now, the company has not announced the price of the DBR1 inspired V12, but the standard V12 Speedster starts at $950,000 USD.
