Clubhouse is now available for Android users, currently in the US only

Clubhouse has finally released its Android version after being iOS exclusive for over a year. It is still in beta, only available in the US for the moment, and it still follows the invite-only model.

The company made the news available in a blog post, users in the US can pre-register to check when the app will be available in their region.

“Our plan over the next few weeks is to collect feedback from the community, fix any issues we see and work to add a few final features like payments and club creation before rolling it out more broadly,” the company said in a blog post.

Android app has been the top request from the community as per the company. The company is releasing the android app in the English-speaking countries first and then will make it available for the rest of the world in the coming weeks.

Clubhouse has been invite-only since its launch but still this hasn’t stopped the company from getting a valuation of $4 billion in a recent funding round.

But their early success has meant that multiple tech firms are interested in launching similar audio features of their own. Twitter recently rolled out its Spaces feature, Discord has added Stage Channels and various other companies like Facebook, LinkedIn, Spotify, Slack, and Reddit are also developing similar functionalities.

With more than a year under its belt, Clubhouse has turned its attention to attracting creators to its platform and recently announced the results of an accelerator program which will see it fund 50 audio shows on the platform. Now, with its release on Android, Clubhouse is finally letting US users with an invite on the biggest smartphone OS in the world get involved.
