We all know that Elon Musk has been backing Dogecoin for some time and now as he officially turned away from bitcoin because of its high energy consumption, he is looking into to tap in Dogecoin‘s full potential.
As it turns out, one of the Doge devs in an interview to Decrypt, revealed that Elon Musk has been working with them as early as 2019. Ross Nicoll, one of the developers mentioned that Musk has been encouraging them to improve the higher transaction throughput.
He wants the Dogecoin energy consumption as low as one percent of Bitcoin which still is only 7% of Bitcoin’s consumption.
Elon Musk has provided his input, advice and also provided connections to help the team. The interview also revealed that Elon Musk also offered to fund, but the developers refused to take any money.
Elon Musk was not the only guy to offer money as stated by Nicoll.
On Thursday Elon Musk tweeted that he was working with Dogecoin developers to “improve system transaction efficiency“.
The Dogecoin developers are currently finalizing the cryptocurrency’s 1.21 upgrade—the biggest since 2019, said Nicoll, and a foundation for further upgrades.
