‘Paddington 2’ loses its perfect Rotten Tomatoes score

Paddington 2 was the best-reviewed movie of all time on Rotten Tomatoes until now, as a recently posted negative review has ruined the 100% rating of the movie and dropped it to a 99%.

The movie had maintained a perfect 100% score for more than three years and had 240 positive reviews in its perfect run.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paddington’s critical score slipped after a review from Film Authority’s Eddie Harrison was added. Similarly, Citizen Kane which also had a 100% rating dropped last month after a negative review from 1941 was discovered.

Eddie Harrison told The Hollywood Reporter:

I reviewed Paddington 2 negatively for BBC radio on release in 2017, and on multiple occasions after that, and I stand by every word of my criticism.

This is a snippet of the review:

“This is not my Paddington Bear, but a sinister, malevolent imposter who should be shot into space, or nuked from space at the first opportunity. Over-confident, snide and sullen, this manky-looking bear bears little relation to the classic character, and viewers should be warned; this ain’t yo mamma’s Paddington bear, and it won’t be yours either. Maybe if you’ve never seen the tv show and don’t know any better, this’ll work, but long-term Paddington fans will find this too much to bear.”

It seems like he feels very strongly about the movie, but this review can’t take away the glory and the greatness of Paddington 2.
