Run linux app on your computer

More Chromebooks from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung have received Linux app support. As expected, the Chrome developers have responsibly backported Linux app support to some more older Chromebooks. This update brings support to roughly 28 devices with the “baseboard” Strago. This update doesn’t include the Samsung Chromebook Pro or other recent Skylake devices on kernel 3.18.

The confirmed chromebooks with linux app support are:

1.) Google pixelbook

2.) Samsung chromebook plus

3.) HP chromebook X2

4.) Asus Chromebook Flip C101

5.) 2018 generation Chromeboxes

6.) Acer Chromebook Tab 10

7.) Acer Chromebook Spin 13 and Chromebook 13

The other chromebooks are not yet confirmed but there are many more with the linux app support. Eighteen more Chromebooks are getting support for Linux apps on Chrome OS, with laptops based in Intel’s Apollo Lake architecture now able to run the applications.

Yet to receive Linux apps are Broadwell devices like the Chromebook Pixel 2 and Dell Chromebook 13, and Skylake devices. Users of Braswell/Strago devices in the Developer or Canary channels should soon receive an update that will add the Terminal icon to their launcher.
