WhatsApp dark mode: The first image of the most awaited feature is finally out
WhatsApp Dark mode for Android and iOS is expected to be rolled out soon and in a recent development, we might have our first glimpse at the Dark mode feature coming to WhatsApp soon.
Shared by WABetaInfo, the concept image shows WhatsApp’s chat list with the dark mode on. As the name suggests, this feature turns the light-themed background of the app dark. On WhatsApp, the background is black with text in white colour. The icons on WhatsApp like camera and pin are white in colour with a dark grey background.
WhatsApp dark mode could also look like the messaging app’s UI on Windows Phone. On Windows Mobile OS, WhatsApp has a dark background unlike Android and iOS. This concept is similar to the one shared last September which shows even the chat box in dark mode. In this concept for dark mode, the icons on WhatsApp have the standard green accents.
The dark mode can be more comforting to eyes and while it will be helpful in using the app under low light conditions, the Dark mode will also help in increasing the battery life on smartphones. It should also be noted that Google has earlier admitted that Dark Mode feature draws about 43% lesser power when the device is set to full brightness and apps such as YouTube and Google Maps have already received the dark mode upgrade. Moreover, the Dark Mode is also a key feature in the new Android 9.0 Pie OS.
Some of the popular apps which have already received the Dark Mode feature includes YouTube, Google Maps, Twitter while the feature is expected to rollout out on Instagram and WhatsApp soon.
