Vivo showcases its portless smartphone Apex 2019 concept

Vivo today showcased their concept portless device, Vivo Apex 2019 concept. Earlier Meizu brought out their holeless device which was certainly very good. The Apex 2019 was supposed to be released on MWC, but the release was eventually delayed.

This would be Vivo’s first 5G smartphone, and would not be having any ports or buttons. Vivo Apex would be having a curved glass design, and as Vivo is stressing out on it is made out of a single piece of glass, which was certainly very hard to achieve.

As there are no buttons, the mobile uses a combination of capacitive and pressure sensors stimulate the volume and sleep buttons. No port for the charger means that it has a proprietary magnetic connector for charging and data transfer, and the screen itself vibrates to produce the sound.

Speaking at the launch, Spark Ni, Senior Vice President, Vivo said –

“The Super Unibody design and Full-Display Fingerprint Scanning technology, among several other breakthrough features, make APEX 2019 a truly exceptional smartphone that demonstrates Vivo’s continuous exploration and pursuit of exceptional innovation for consumers.”

The smartphone would be running Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage.

This could be the start of a new breed of smartphones.
