Elon Musk made his much-anticipated debut on Saturday Night Live, and this was used by at least five of Tesla‘s competitors as they bought up ads during the show.
Almost every other EV brand showed up commercials at the ad breaks during the show. The list includes Audi E-Tron, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Volkswagen ID 4, and Lucid Air, with all the commercials airing during the first 30 minutes of the SNL.
Lucid Motors, a company that is headed by the former engineer of Tesla Model S, who frequently clashes with Elon Musk, had earlier teased the commercial dubut.
The show was supposed to get a lot of popularity as Elon Musk has been known as the guy who popularized the electric vehicles and also due to his stance on cryptocurrency, specially the Dogecoin.
The commercials used this show to intimate audience that they Tesla was not the only EV manufacturer and more companies are entering the game.
Also according to Adweek, Sierra Space, a rival of Musk’s SpaceX, purchased various ad spots that will run on YouTube clips of Musk’s appearance on SNL.
