Intel announced their new “Core X” family which will be providing a powerful version of Core i5 and Core i7 models, and along with this they also have a new line named Core i9.
The Core X processor family is for hardcore gamers and extensive CPU users like content creators. It is targeted to help users who have multiple heavy software running and still want smooth performance from their system. Content Creators can have multiple applications running simultaneously.
The top model of Core X series is the Core i9 Extreme which is topped at $1,999 and Intel is proud to announce that it is first customer desktop with 18 cores and 36 threads.
The base model of Core X series is Core i5-7640X is priced at $242 and is having 4 cores and 4 threads. Then there is Core i7 X series which has a price ranging from $339 (4 core, 8 thread) to $599 (10 core, 20 thread). These new processors are designed to work with Intel’s new X299 motherboard chipset, which should be rolling out in the coming weeks. Intel is claiming that its Core-X family reaches 10 percent faster multithread performance than the previous generation and 15 percent faster single thread performance.
The new Intel processors are directly competing with AMD Ryzen whose release was seen as a better option over Intel processors, but AMD is expected to release its new high-end processor line with up to 16 core and 32 threads which would be directly competing with Core i9 processors.
In addition to this Core X family, Intel is also supposed to release a new 8th generation line of mainstream chips which are rumored to be named Coffee Lake.
