Microsoft is coming up with it’s latest XBOX and is being codenamed “ANACONDA”. If you didn’t know that Microsoft always sets codenames for their XBOX generations, well then they do and interestingly the names are always of reptiles. The original Xbox One was codenamed Durango and the Xbox One X took the arachnid-themed Scorpio codename. And this time continuing their naming preference they named the next XBOX Anaconda.
Codename Anaconda will be the equivalent of the current Xbox One X, with improved hardware and processors/graphics from AMD. And this time Anaconda might also come with an SSD storage to reduce the processing time of games. Microsoft is also reportedly preparing a second console, codenamed Lockhart, that will act as the more affordable Xbox (like Xbox One S). Naturally, both of these consoles will fully support existing backwards compatible Xbox and Xbox 360 games, and of course Xbox One titles.
Besides this it is also reported that a disc-less version of XBOX One S might be coming in 2019. More interestingly, Microsoft is also reportedly considering a disc-to-digital program that will convert physical disc libraries into digital ones. Microsoft did originally plan this same feature for the launch of the Xbox One, but the company cancelled it after the controversial always-online requirements and disc sharing concerns.
