Instagram introduces “Suggested Posts”, will make you spend more time on the app

Instagram is adding new feature to its app that will make people spend more time on the app. Instagram is introducing “Suggested Posts” which will show posts from accounts that you don’t follow, after you have reached end of your feed.

When a user reaches the end of the feed, they are shown a message highlighting that they have seen all the posts from the accounts they follow from the past two days.

With suggested posts users will have to option to access more new content from accounts similar to their interests. It is going to be different from Explore feature, as Suggested Posts will be based on your content that the users follow.

This way Instagram is making users spend more time on their app and will make you scroll forever. A couple of years ago Instagram has stated that the implementation of end of feed was to reduce the on-screen time, but now Instagram is doing the exact opposite.

Ads will also show in the Suggested Posts and only photo and video posts will be there, for now, none of the Insta Reels and IGTV content.

I think for us this really came from a vision a couple years ago around people really seeing feed as a place for their interests, and with the improvement in machine learning and our ability to kind of make it easier for you to see some more of those posts that are on Instagram every day, and really bring that personalized relevance to you

More content will surely mean more ad space for Instagram and will definitely help them in earning more money.
